In a bid to earn a bit of trust, Sanctuary shows Goma the contents of his mortar as he mixes a poultice. “...Look,” he says. “Eucalyptus, marigold, honey, and clove oil for the infection. A drop of willow and poppy extract for the pain, some clay and charcoal to bind it all together…” These plants, sourced from his own garden, are source of immense pride for him. Though the poultice is composed of vibrant herbs and medicines, the contents of the bowl come together as a dark paste.
